Congratulations to Brendan Harrelson and Alejandro Casula for finishing the Coach Bubba’s Four Mile Run on Saturday. This was the furthest distance either of them had ever run and they persevered all the way to the finish line. Mr. Linney managed to win the overall race in a time of 22:44 (5:41 pace per mile). I was inspired to see Brendan and Alejandro and hear their cheers as we passed each other on the American Tobacco Trail. Ms. Sullivan had a great run in the longer race and improved her time in the 20K (12.4 miles) from last year. Hard work and commitment brings great results.
Any DNS family members looking for another race or a first race, check out The Great Human Race on Saturday, March 29, 2008 at 9:30am www.greathumanrace.org. You can run or walk the 5K (3.1 miles) in support of numerous Triangle Nonprofits. DNS would like to encourage you to support the Augustine Project, a reading tutoring program based out of Chapel Hill http://www.augustineproject.org/. Both Mr. Linney and Mr. Glenn were trained as Augustine tutors in July 2007 in order to help DNS students excel in reading.

Hey! Its Karen Hayes, Dessalines’s mom. I like the new look of your blog…it has changed. Hey! The Developing Countries section is great! I really want us to participate in one of these runs. Dessalines has time and I can make time. Do you think it is too late to get ready for the March 29th race? Let me know. Thanks. K.
